Description:

Dr Congo - Kalungu is from an organisation which has more than 5,600 farmers, around 20 percent are women. It's located near Lake Kivu in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Each of the farmers has a small area of farmland for their coffee approx fewer than 2 hectare in size.

This cooperative was the first to achieve Fair Trade certification in Congo, and the coffee also carries organic certification. At this washing station, the coffee is depulped on the day it's delivered, and fermented dry for 12 hours. It then spends 12 hours under water before being passed through the washing canal, and then soaked for an additional 12 hours. The coffee is then dried on raised beds under a cover of shade for 14–20 days.

When we developed our Nespresso capsules we wanted to ensure that we was able to create a capsules that truly showcased the standard of Speciality Coffee that we look to achieve and embodied our goals for the Speciality Coffee industry!

As always the coffee you will find inside all of our capsules is Hand Roasted by us personally in the vibrant seaside town of Whitstable and is carefully sourced by us to ensure that all farmers are paid well above the industry standards for their hard work.

It was very important for us to ensure the "Full Life Cycle" of the capsule was as environmentally friendly as possible, not just the capsules 'End of Life' cycle, we wanted to focus on the start & middle of the cycle too!

So kick back, relax and experience capsules like you never tasted before.
